Careers – Estimator
Reporting to the VP Construction, and working under the Construction manager’s direction, the Estimator reads, interprets and analyzes construction plans, specifications and tender documents and prepares an estimate of time, materials, labour, tools and equipment required to construct the described project.
REPONSIBILITIES:
- Read, interpret and coordinate all plans, specifications, addenda, directives and change orders and other tender documents;
- Estimate quantity of time, labour, tools and equipment required execute the specified work,
- Prepare a detailed material and assemblies quantities take-off;
- Prepare and coordinate the scope of work summaries for various sub-contract/disciplines;
- Establish and maintain tendering process and provide clarifications as required
- Verify and analyze subcontractor quotations for completeness and/or duplication.
- Compile a detailed cost estimate for review by the Construction Manager and VP Construction
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, and subcontractors
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience estimating commercial, industrial and multi-residential construction;
- Strong communication, research, scheduling, problem solving and decision making skills;
- Team player, with abilities to lead and motivate others;
- Organized, proactive, with acute administration and negotiation skills;
- Extensive knowledge of current local construction techniques;
- Excellent skills in plan and specifications reading interpretation;
- Excellent command of computer programs and construction industry software.
